Continued Healing Program

Hey there, 

A phrase you may have already heard me say through our work together is “the body isn’t a bank”. 

Here’s what I mean by that – it seems only fair that after we’ve put in all of this hard work to straighten out our gut and our hormones, that the body should just stay that way. Fortunately or unfortunately, our body’s aren’t savings accounts. 

Check this out – let’s imagine that for the last four months you’ve been hitting the gym on a daily basis and been enrolled in one of the IshbelWELL programs.

Suddenly, what feels like out-of-nowhere your pants feel a little more snug, and it’s hard to get out of bed in the morning.  A few more weeks go by, and your monthly cycle is late by four days.  The PMS and the constipation are back.  

And you think “Seriously?!  I worked so hard to resolve all of these issues!  This process didn’t work.  I should have a lot more leeway with my self-care now.  I’m broken, and I shouldn’t even try anymore.”  

How do I know this scenario so well?

Because I’ve done this more times than I can count.

Ugh.  I’ve gone through more wellness programs than I can count.  I’ve done detoxes, every diet in the book, supplement protocols and workout challenges.  Some programs garnered amazing results, while other programs didn’t.  

When I hit a wall with my health and got serious about healing my Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, I knew that the first thing that would need to change was my mindset.  I could no longer venture into wellness overhauls only to complete them, lose my momentum and return to my previous behavior.  

If I was going to resolve my health issues once and for all, I was going to have to change my mindset from “When is this going to be over?” To “Wow!  This is working, and I feel so much better.  What else can I do to build on this momentum?”  

When I changed my mindset, amazing things started to happen with my health.  I was able to harness the momentum I built with my initial gut healing process and propel myself forward by digging into deeper therapies that helped to detox my liver, balance my blood sugar and resolve my fatigue once and for all.  

Most importantly, I trained myself to look for answers and inspiration rather than dwell on the challenges I was facing.  

Have you ever been on a treadmill or a spin bike, and all you can do is stare at the countdown screen?  Every second that you’re sweating and watching the clock feels like a century.  It’s excruciating, and if you’re anything like me, you can only convince yourself to do those hard workouts a handful of times before you give up and decide that this working out thing is just not for you.

The body doesn’t “save” all of the amazing self-care practices you’ve integrated into your life. It’s what we do every day to take care of our bodies that adds up to a lifetime of feeling good.  

Taking care of our bodies and its unique needs can feel like a lot of hard work, or we can change the most pivotal piece of our wellness journey – our mindset – and show up to these self-care commitments with a sense of inquisitiveness and grit.  

Every time we step on the treadmill or plan our meals out in advance or say “no” to the second glass of wine, we are giving ourselves the gift of long-term health.  

Every day we have the opportunity to bypass short-term satisfaction for long-term health. 

The Continued Healing Program is intended to give you all of the tools you’ll need to make long-term choices not only easy, but eventually automatic, so that choosing the path of wellness is who you are and not just what you do. 

Adjusting to a changing physiology.

Once you’ve completed one of the IshbelWELL programs, your body is significantly changed, and it may surprise you to discover how much more communicative your body is.  

While none of the IshbelWELL programs are specifically geared towards the immune system, all of the programs directly influence the immune system.  

Remember that your immune system is an amazing communicator, and oftentimes after completing a healing protocol, your body will tell you what it likes and doesn’t like with a much louder voice!  This is amazing news! 

And, this newfound communication can be confusing.  

The body and the immune system are akin to an onion.  Every layer we peel provides us with more guidance.  As you’ve already experienced, functional testing can be incredibly helpful in deciphering your body’s changing needs.
